How beauty oil can give you glowing skin

Rachael Taylor Fawsitt

A good skincare routine doesn’t have to involve a complicated regime with numerous steps or confusing concoctions. Sometimes, the simplicity of nature is all you need.

Our modern-day lifestyles look very different to that of our grandparents. The pace of life is faster, we travel more, and technology is the driver of almost everything we do. All these things can lead to skin that is less than glowing.

Thankfully, nature is still on our side, offering us the perfect formula on how to love and take care of our skin. Pure plant oils are superfine, easily absorbed and bursting with skin-loving nutrients.

One of the most talked about beauty oils and super ingredients out there is rosehip oil. A must have for all skincare devotees, it is quickly becoming a global beauty staple. Apart from the fact that it is a natural product, many are drawn to it for its healing properties and ability to improve the condition of skin.

Want to know more about the beauty oil that has everyone talking? Here are some of the reasons why rosehip oil is nature’s answer to perfect skin.

Active ingredients

Buzzwords of the skincare industry come and go, but none of them have stood the test of time like active ingredients. But what do they actually do? Well, active ingredients are there to deliver the benefits of a product. And rosehip oil offers many benefits.

Essential fatty acids

Your skin’s membrane needs essential fatty acids to repair, rejuvenate and generally help it to look its best. Rosehip oil is rich in Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 which are all vital nutrients for maintaining ideal skin health. They nourish, protect and strengthen the skin’s barrier function.

Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is cold-pressed and goes through a solvent-free extraction process to ensure the highest quality oil and Trilogy tests every batch to guarantee a minimum 80pc essential fatty acid content.

Regulate your skin’s own oil production

Although those with naturally oily skin may not automatically reach for beauty oils, rosehip oil is known as a ‘dry oil’ and can surprisingly help to balance out oil production. While mineral oils can leave an oily residue and clog pores, pure plant oils have a finer molecular structure, and many are similar in design to our own natural skin oil (sebum).

Moisturise

Dehydration can play havoc on your skin’s condition, so ensuring you keep it moisturised is extremely important. Applying just two to three drops of an organic beauty oil every day will repair and restore your skin’s hydration and is an ideal way to maintain its natural beauty.

The essential fatty acids in rosehip oil can also help to tackle dry flaky skin and keep it at bay. Apply your oil after cleansing, while your skin is still slightly damp - this helps to lock in moisture and leaves it feeling soft and hydrated.

Treat problem areas

Scars, stretch marks and signs of ageing are all things that can affect the skin. Corinne Morley, Global Education Manager for Trilogy, explains that “Rosehip is the most prized of the seed oils. With its excellent ability to nourish and moisturise even the driest of skin, rosehip oil is super-rich in skin-loving nutrients to improve overall skin condition. Independent clinical studies have shown Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil to be highly effective at treating scars, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles and dry and dehydrated skin.”

Sensitive skin

Having sensitive skin doesn’t have to be the bane of your life. Avoiding harsh and synthetic chemicals is one of the key ways to begin to tackle the issue. Using products like (organic) beauty oils can also help as they have natural anti-inflammatory properties and will help protect the weaken skin barrier.  Rosehip oil is so gentle on the skin that many mums will use it on their baby’s skin.

Antioxidants

Environmental free radical damage is one of the major threats to the look and health of our skin. Free radicals cause damage to the skin's DNA, which in turn can speed up the skin-ageing process. The good news is that antioxidants have the ability to fight free radicals in the body. Lycopene and pro-vitamin A (beta-carotene) are naturally occurring antioxidants found in rosehip oil.

Use it to enhance your makeup

For those who love to wear make up every day but still want to keep their skin in top shape, incorporating rose hip oil into your beauty regime is an excellent way to do it. Celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury uses it to prep her client’s skin before applying makeup. She says that rosehip oil “is fantastic for giving my client a mini facial to wake up the skin before applying make-up, which gives a beautiful luminosity to the skin.” You can also mix it with loose-powder mineral makeup for a custom liquid foundation with a dewy finish.

While the list is endless, these are just some of the many reasons using rosehip oil can be great for your skin. Opt for a high-quality beauty oil that is organic and free from additional synthetic chemicals to ensure you are treating your skin to the best it deserves.

Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is available to purchase online or from health stores and pharmacies nationwide.
