Getting personal: Dyson aims to improve your well-being with its latest technology

Dyson may be best known for its vacuum cleaners but its is now launching a new range of technology products designed to improve people’s wellbeing.

The company has a history of diversifying into new products and its latest technology focuses on creating solutions to improve your well-being at home. According to new EU research, Europeans spend up to 90pc of their time indoors. Eating, sleeping, working at a desk, watching Netflix or playing games - most of the things we do take place within four walls.

That means more time under artificial light and more time breathing stuffy air.

With so much time spend in your home, it can be hard to make it a real sanctuary and oasis of calm. These days, true relaxation is considered a luxury. When it comes to having a more relaxing home life, you need to have greater control of your personal surroundings and environment.

So, whether you want to cool your room while you sleep, personalise the light or purify the air in the space around you, here are the top three ways to create a more blissful environment at home.

Be cool

Did you know that indoor air quality can be up to five times worse than outdoor air quality, according to research in the European Respiratory Journal?

You might be surprised at the air pollutants that you would find in an average family home. For example, everyday cleaning products or air fresheners can expose you to benzene while damp areas can release mould spores into the air. Wood-burning stoves or fireplaces can give your home a warm, cosy feeling but they can also have an impact on air quality.

If you want your home to be clean and comfortable, why not start with the air you breathe?

The Dyson Pure Cool Me personal purifying fan can fit on your bedside table, on your work desk, your beauty table while doing make-up, or even in a nursery.

The purifying fan can help create a fresh space to work or relax, and even provide a stream of personal purified air at night – perfect for those hot summer nights. No more kicking off the sheets because you’re too warm - just pure relaxation.

Unlike a whole room air purifier, the Pure Cool Me is completely personal for your own ‘me space’ and is engineered to be as quiet as possible. So, no matter where you are or what time of day it is, you can look after your own well-being.

Let there be light

When staying indoors, we are constantly bombarded with artificial light. From the bright lights of the kitchen to the blue light of our smart phones, artificially-generated light can put us out of sync with the real time of day.

“Light matters to our well-being and task performance,” says Jake Dyson, Chief Lighting Engineer at Dyson. “When trying to recreate the characteristics of daylight, light quality is vital.”

Even if you don’t notice it, low light, glare or flicker can cause eye strain. The Dyson Lightcycle task light is designed to help this reduce eye strain.

Your home is your escape and your personal space so you should feel as comfortable as possible when you’re there. The light you use for cooking, cleaning, writing and watching TV needs to be the exact right light for the task at hand – and for the time of day.

Available as a desk or floor light, Dyson’s latest lighting technology continually adjusts its colour temperature and brightness in relation to your local daylight.

The light is made for your own personal space so it also adjusts for your age and whatever task you are completing. You’ll always have the right light at the right time of day.

A clean space

One of the most troublesome things about staying indoors is the dust. No one can relax and feel at peace in a dirty or dusty home.

A survey by the Huffington Post found that over half of respondents said that a dirty home is a major source of stress. When you’re at home, you want to it be comfortable and clean - not filthy and dusty. In order to create a personal space to look after your well-being, you need to deep-clean that house of yours!

But maybe you don’t want to have to get on your hands and knees and spend hours finding every bit of dirt. Just do it in one sweep so you can get on with your life. The Dyson V11 vacuum has stiff nylon bristles that drive deep into the carpet to remove ground-in dirt and capture dust from hard floors and crevices.

When vacuuming, you might worry about being exposed to dust, but the vacuum’s sealed filtration system captures 99.97pc of tiny particles and even expels cleaner air into the environment. That’s great for people who don’t want to exasperate any respiratory problems when they clean their home.

No muss, no fuss, no mess. It is simply engineered with your well-being in mind and in your personal peaceful retreat, that is truly vital.
