A city break is the perfect way to recharge and enjoy a wide variety of food and culture. Just a seven-hour flight from Dublin, the city of Toronto has all of this and more for those looking for their next travel adventure.

Adding Toronto to the top of your destination list is easy when you know what the city has to offer. From its iconic views, to being a shopping oasis - Toronto has something for everyone.

The views

As Canada’s largest city, it comes as no surprise that Toronto boasts one of the world’s most breathtaking skylines. With over 2,500 high-rise buildings towering over the city, getting up high to take it all in is a must for visitors. Enjoy dinner at the famous CN tower or indulge in some cocktails and sushi at the Thompson Hotel Rooftop.

Keep a watchful eye for familiar places in Toronto. Thanks to its thriving film industry, the city takes centre stage in many Hollywood block busters. The cult-classic ‘Mean Girls’ was filmed here in 2004, and other famous flicks include ‘The Incredible Hulk’ and ‘American Psycho’.

Shop ‘til you drop

Toronto can easily give Manhattan a run for its money in the shopping department. Once the world’s largest shopping mall, West Edmonton Mall is every shopaholics dream destination. From Abercrombie and Fitch to Tiffany & Co. – the mall is home to over 800 stores.

If you fancy something a little more bohemian, check out the colourful Kensington Market neighbourhood. Bustling with indie shops, vintage boutiques and of course markets, you are sure to find lots of oneoff pieces here.

Relax at the beach

When you think of a metropolitan city, ‘beach getaway’ isn’t always the first thing that springs to mind. However, Toronto is one of the exceptions. The city can offer its guests the best of both worlds.

Just 13 minutes on a ferry from downtown Toronto, is the Toronto Island Park. This area is made up of 15 small islands which are linked by pathways and bridges. Taking a trip out to the islands on a sunny day is sure to help you recharge during your exciting time in Toronto.

The island also hosts several festivals and events throughout the year, so be sure to check in advance as there may be something interesting happening during your stay.

Day trips

Famed for its stunning beauty, Niagara Falls is one of the most visited locations in Canada. Just 90 minutes from Toronto by car, this spectacular site is a must-see for anyone travelling to this part of the world. Take a cruise around the three waterfalls and see nature at its finest – just don’t forget your raincoat!
