Are you looking for an exciting change of career?

The way we think about work has changed significantly over the past few decades. Our work is more than what we do; often it can be a part of who we are. Therefore, we want to be excited, inspired and challenged by what we do day to day.

Our expectations have risen, and so have what employers must offer. It’s no longer enough to give your employees a decent wage and pension; to retain the very best talent savvy employers know they must offer something more. The job seekers of today relish a challenge, value autonomy and look for pioneering companies with real vision.

The Area Manager Programme at Aldi offers all of that, and more. As one the biggest success stories in Irish retail over the past 10 years, Aldi is always on the lookout for driven, talented people with experience in management for their Area Manager Programme. With plans in place to build and open more stores across the country in the coming years, Aldi is currently seeking applications for this exciting opportunity.

If you are looking to accelerate your career in a fast-paced environment with a thriving, innovative company, then this is the opportunity for you.

The Aldi Area Manager Programme is a springboard for those looking to build a successful management career. In fact, most of Aldi’s senior executives, and even the CEO, started out with the company as Area Managers, quickly progressing through the ranks.

With experience already behind you, you’ll be asked to bring your knowledge to the table. You might have a flare for merchandising, be fascinated by shopper psychology or have a passion for making processes better. Whatever it is that makes you tick your input is highly valued at Aldi.

Area Managers will have a one-to-one mentor on hand throughout their first year on the job. This means that those on the Area Manager Programme feel confident in their ability to make decisions and come up with real-life solutions whilst having a senior colleague there to offer guidance and support. Training doesn’t stop when you complete the programme- you’ll be continuously progressing throughout your career with ongoing professional development. This is more than just about retail; this Programme spans a wide range of industries from law to finance, logistics and product development.

The starting salary for Area Managers is an impressive €74,000 which rises to €99,600 after just four years. Area Managers also travel in style in a fully expensed Audi A4, so a full clean driver’s license is required.

From day one you’ll take on responsibility and by the end of the year you will be ready to manage your own multi-million euro area.

The first year of the Area Manager Programme covers all aspects of the business- from customer service, product, distribution, HR, accounts and merchandising.

Within the first three months new recruits will have an in-depth understanding of how this global business functions thanks to a hands-on approach to training. They will spend time in store with store managers, getting to know their staff while developing communication and trust. They’ll see first-hand how Aldi operates when it comes to customer service, as well as the logistical side of running an incredibly successful retail business.

Over the course of the following months they’ll really get a taste of what it is like to be an Area Manager as they manage teams, order stock and oversee the day-to-day running of the store. As well as this, there will be workshops with regional experts to further develop a holistic understanding of the company.

The end of the year is marked with a five-week period as an Area Manager overseeing 3-4 stores. This is when you’ll really put the skills you have learnt over the year to the test and develop your own managerial style. You’ll be encouraged to influence your team, devise new strategies and drive productivity to really make an impact.

If you like the sound of all that, but don’t have a background in retail, don’t fret. Aldi recruits employees from all walks of life; it doesn’t matter what your degree is in you just need to have managerial experience and a passion to excel.

The opportunities with Aldi really are boundless. As Area Managers progress, there is also the opportunity to take an international placement and work for Aldi in another country. Aldi’s global presence extends across Ireland and the UK, North America, Germany, Hong Kong and Australia.

So, if you are looking for an experience like no other, apply here for the Aldi Area Management Programme today.
