Anatomy of an Xpo - a guide to the Convention Centre Dublin and PlayersXpo 2017

With so many guests and games crammed into Dublin’s ample Convention Centre, attendees would do well to have a look at our floorplan and schedule to get the most of their session.

Staff will be present to check you in 30 minutes before opening time, having your ticket printed will speed things up and then at 9AM and 4PM, doors open and in you go.

YouTubers begin their individual talks at 9.30 and 4.30 with Sanna up first, giving you time to have a quick peek around the impressive venue before making your way to the third floor to the Auditorium.

The Auditorium - 3rd/4th/5th Floor

The Convention Centre Dublin’s Auditorium has a seating capacity of 2,000 and hosts panel discussions from our five YouTubers. Our three international YouTubers have solo slots of 30 minutes each and a 30 minute collab session following Jelly’s solo slot. The Irish YouTubers, Antitinkerbell and All-Cast Irish Gamers share a 30 minute slot in the morning sessions and a 60 minute session in the evening sessions.

The Auditorium also plays host to the evening session concerts conducted by Eimear Noone. The ‘Songs of Zelda: The Celtic Link’ album launch concert takes place at 8PM on Saturday while the Irish debút of ‘Retro Games begins at 8.30PM on Sunday. ‘Retro Games Live’ on Sunday evening also plays host to the Cosplay Grand Parade for our Cosplay category winners.

The Forum - Ground Floor

The Forum is PlayersXpo’s main showroom. Here, attendees will find Multiplay who are hosting our line-up of contemporary titles like FIFA 18, Super Mario Odyssey and Minecraft. These titles are playable for fun, to investigate Christmas gift ideas or for some friendly competition as the Turn Up & Play tournaments also take place here. Our staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about our Turn Up & Play contests.

You will also find our Retro Zone in the Forum. Retro Zone is a collection of 20 classic playable consoles covering 40 years of gaming history. We feel the story of gaming is best told through the games themselves. It also features a display of hand-held systems.

Google will be demonstrating their amazing Tilt Brush on the Forum floor. Google Tilt Brush is a VR art suite designed to unleash your wildest creative imagination with intuitive control in an immersive setting. Characters from Marvel’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ will also be making a virtual appearance on the Forum floor via the ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Augmented Reality App.

Our table-top games and meeting spot is also in the Forum so fans of Pokémon,table-top or TC and the Yu-Gi-Oh card game can meet, trade and battle here.


The table-top section, Retro Zone, Multiplay and our merchandising area are open throughout the morning and evening sessions so you can enjoy all fun of the fair in between our stars’ talks and workshops.

The Forum also hosts our Deathmatch of Doom in both morning and evening sessions. Morning Deathmatches begin at 10.30 on Saturday and Sunday with evening DM sessions beginning at 4.30 on Saturday and 4PM on Sunday. Entry for Deathmatches closes at 12 Midnight Friday, 27th October 2017 so if you have your tickets already and think you have what it takes to beat the godfather of gaming then click here to register!

Brenda and John Romero are also hosting a 60 minute Q&A on the Forum floor during Saturday and Sunday’s morning sessions and another 60-minute Q&A on Saturday’s evening slot. The Forum hosts a 3-hour Doom Deathmatch on Sunday.

Our Cosplay contests takes place on the Forum stage with three 60-minute sessions during Saturday morning, Saturday evening and Sunday morning. On Sunday evening as previously mentioned, Cosplay winners will be on show in our Grand Parade in the Auditorium on the fourth floor.

Liffey Hall 2 - 1st Floor

Workshops on web safety and online bullying hosted by Paula O’Connor take place in Liffey Hall 2. Gamers and parents of gamers can catch ‘Don't Be Mean Behind Your Screen’ at both morning and evening sessions on Saturday and Sunday.

Eimear Noone and Craig Stuart Garfinkle, renowned conductor and composers, host their ‘Composing and Producing Music in Video Games’ talks also in Liffey Hall 2 during Saturday morning’s session. Craig Stuart hosts his ‘Composer’s Demo Derby’ and ‘The Epic Game Score - View from the Podium' talk here also.

Composers David Wise (Battletoads, Donkey Kong Country) and Marcin Przybylowicz (The Witcher series) host their respective talk in Liffey Hall 2 also. David’s One-on-One takes place on Saturday morning while Marcin’s is on Sunday morning.


Wicklow Hall 1 - 2nd Floor

Meet’n’greets with our three international YouTube stars take place in Wicklow Hall 1. Info on how to join Jelly, Sanna and Slogoman there will be available on screens throughout the venue, so keep an eye out.
