Top 10 questions to ask before undertaking a Springboard+ course

So you've decided to enhance your career prospects by completing a Springboard+ course, but you still have some questions and concerns

1 How many Springboard+ courses can I apply for?

You can apply for a maximum of 10 courses via the website:

2 Can I do more than one Springboard+ course at a time?

No, participants can only study one Springboard+ course at a time.

3 I was on a MOMENTUM course previously. Am I eligible to apply for a Springboard+ course?

Yes, as long as you fulfil the eligibility requirements and have successfully completed your MOMENTUM course.

4 When do Springboard+ courses start?

Each course is different but the majority start from September. You will find details of the starting dates on each course information page on

5 How long do Springboard+ courses last?

While they all vary in duration, none of the part-time courses are longer than one calendar year but most courses will include a work placement upon conclusion of the period of study.

6 What happens if I get a job offer while participating on a Springboard+ course?

You should accept the job. Taking up a suitable job takes precedence over participating in a Springboard+ course. For this reason, higher education providers have been asked to respond to this issue with as much flexibility as possible. For example, the college may offer participants the opportunity to complete their course during evenings and/or weekends.

7 Are Springboard+ courses recognised on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)?

Yes. All Springboard+ courses are recognised on the NFQ and lead to a higher education award at Level 6, 7, 8 or 9 on the Framework.

8 Can I get recognition for my work-based experience if I have no previous higher education experience when applicants are being considered for a Springboard+ course?

All Springboard+ providers are required to consider applications based on prior learning OR previous experience on the part of both people with or without formal qualifications.

9 Can I make a Springboard+ application directly to a participating college?

No. All applications must be made online through

10 I have accepted an offer of a Springboard+ place but I have changed my mind. Can I re-apply for a different course?

Once you have accepted an offer of a place, all other applications you have made are automatically cancelled. If you have accepted the course and have changed your mind you must inform the relevant course provider immediately. You can still apply for another course as long as other providers are still receiving applications.
