Wooly's impossible dream comes to life
Perhaps the only thing more unbelievable than the announcement of the Martin O'Neill/ Roy Keane dream ticket was the fact that our own Colm Parkinson had predicted the pairing on Friday's radio show.
Colm has been campaigning for Keano to be the next Ireland manager ever since Trap was sacked back in September. When O'Neill's appointment seemed all but inevitable on Friday afternoon, 'Wooly' pitched a compromise on air.
"I wonder is there any chance he'd bring in Roy Keane as his assistant manager?" Colm said sagely. "Maybe that's just hoping for the biggest dream team that's ever possible. It could revive Roy Keane's career, though."
As ever, presenter Ger Gilroy had his finger on the pulse. "I don't, for the record, think that there's a prospect IN HELL that Roy Keane's coming in as a No 2 to Martin O'Neill," he said.
When news broke hours later, Ger had egg on his face and Colm's dream, which had seemed impossible mere hours previous, had madly come to life.
