We might have seen the next Lionel Messi or Andres Iniesta walking the 1916 centenary parade route this morning.

With commemorative celebrations for the 100-year-old rising to take place throughout Easter weekend, there has been an influx of tourists into the country eager to enjoy the atmosphere on such an important national anniversary.

Once such group in Dublin for the weekend was a Barcelona youth football team, who happened across the 1916 parade area when out site-seeing in the city centre.

Perhaps in years to come, a number of Spanish football stars will count their trip to Ireland, and their brief look at the struggles of the Easter Rising leaders, as a formative experience that helped them persevere during tough times in their career.

It's certainly a possibility that those youngsters might go on to great things. The Barcelona youth academy, known as La Masia, has produced legendary players such as Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Cesc Fabregas.
