Video: Hopefully Louis van Gaal gets more time than David Moyes – Roy Keane

Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane hopes that new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will get the time he needs to fix the problems at Manchester United unlike David Moyes.

The former Manchester United captain is hoping that Van Gaal is a success and backs the Dutchman's stance on discipline.

"Only time will tell, I thought David Moyes was a good choice and I obviously felt he should have got a bit more time but Van Gaal is obviously a vastly experienced manager," he said.

"(He's) worked with big clubs, Bayern, Barcelona, he's been involved in national teams before so fingers crossed he'll come and do the business.

"I've heard before that he was a bit strict on time keeping and stuff like that but if you can't be on time for work there is something drastically wrong.

"Fingers crossed, he'll come in and United give him all the backing and support that he needs and hopefully he'll get a lot more time than David Moyes."

Meanwhile, Ireland captain Robbie Keane will face up to Louis van Gaal's Manchester United in his first game in charge as United face LA Galaxy in a friendly on July 13.
