Ultan Dillane ruled out for remainder of campaign after operation
Connacht's Ireland lock Ultan Dillane will miss the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The 23-year-old featured in Ireland's opening two RBS 6 Nations encounters, in Scotland and Italy, but has been sidelined since.
But after a successful operation he will now miss the end of the campaign - and will already be battling for fitness for Ireland's summer tour to Japan.
"Ultan Dillane underwent successful surgery on his shoulder and will be unavailable for the remainder of the season," Connacht announced in a statement.
Ireland take on the USA en route to their two-Test tour in Japan in June, a trip where boss Joe Schmidt will be keen to test the depth of his squad.
Connacht face Glasgow on Saturday but will also be without flanker Nepia Fox-Matamua, who has had to undergo surgery on an ACL knee injury.
Peter Robb will miss a month with hip trouble, and Matt Healy could be sidelined for as long as six weeks with a hand injury.
