Top 10 Premier League goals of the season
There were no shortage of corkers this season, but here are our top 10 goals of the 2013/14 campaign.
Goals were plentiful throughout the season and the Goal of the Season competition will be difficult to judge.
From mazing dribbles, to half-way line efforts to pile-drivers, there have been many goals to get fans out of their seats.
Here are what we think are the top 10.
1 PAJTIM KASAMI (Crystal Palace v FULHAM)
Fulham midfielder Kasami provided a rare bright point in the Cottagers' season with a wonder goal at Selhurst Park in October. Kasami controlled a long ball on his chest before slamming home a right-foot volley from the right-hand corner of the box.
2 JONJO SHELVEY (SWANSEA v Aston Villa)
Shelvey capped his lively season with a superb strike as the Swans sealed top-flight survival with a 4-1 win over Aston Villa in April. The former Liverpool striker controlled a wayward clearance on his chest before scissoring a shot into the top corner from inside the centre circle.
3 WAYNE ROONEY (West Ham v MAN UTD)
Memories of David Beckham's long-range stunner against Wimbledon came flooding back as Rooney angled a brilliant right-foot shot over Hammers goalkeeper Adrian from just over the halfway line, silencing the Upton Park fans.
4 LUIS SUAREZ (LIVERPOOL v Norwich)
Suarez could spend all day picking his personal season highlights but they arguably did not come any better than his looping volley from 40 yards which beat Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy at Anfield - the first of four scored by Suarez in a 5-1 rout.
5 JACK WILSHERE (ARSENAL v Norwich)
As team efforts go they did not come any better than Wilshere's strike against the Canaries, the simplicity of his finish belying a complex move which involved dazzling interplay between Wilshere and team-mates Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud, who fed him the final pass.
6 ROSS BARKLEY (Newcastle v EVERTON)
Barkley underlined his status as one of the season's rising stars with a stunning goal against the magpies, capping a 75-yard run from his own half by drifting in from the right flank and leaving three Newcastle defenders for dead before flicking the ball past goalkeeper Tim Krul.
7 DANIEL STURRIDGE (LIVERPOOL v West Brom)
Sturridge showed stunning composure against the hapless Baggies at Anfield, sending the visiting defenders frantically back-pedalling before delivering an inch-perfect lob over goalkeeper Ben Foster from a tight angle.
8 SANDRO (TOTTENHAM v Man Utd)
The Spurs midfielder heaped more woe on David Moyes as he tortured the Uniited rearguard, completely wrong-footing defender Alex Buttner before slamming a right-foot shot into the top corner of United goalkeeper David De Gea's net.
9 ASMIR BEGOVIC (STOKE v Southampton)
The Stoke goalkeeper looked almost sheepish after finding the net just 14 seconds into their Premier League clash, a long clearance catching the wind and taking a bounce before catching his opposite number Artur Boruc off-guard and nestling in the back of the net.
10 MORGAN AMALFITANO (WEST BROM v Cardiff)
The Baggies needed a good start in their crucial relegation battle against Cardiff and they got it within two minutes when the recalled Amalfitano picked up the ball wide on the right and, spotting David Marshall off his line, angled an inch-perfect effort over the goalkeeper and into the corner of the net.
