Texas in Gowran frame
Noel Meade will consider letting Texas Jack turn out quickly for the Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park following a fine effort in last weekend's Hennessy Gold Cup.
The nine-year-old was unable to lay a glove on the exciting Don Cossack in last month's Kinloch Brae Chase at Thurles, but fared much better when finishing fifth in Sunday's Grade One feature at Leopardstown.
With a trip to next month's Cheltenham Festival not currently on the agenda, Meade is weighing up whether to run his charge again at Grade Two level this Saturday.
"He ran well in the Hennessy, he just didn't quite get the trip," said Meade.
"He's come out of the race well and and I haven't ruled out running him in the Red Mills on Saturday. We'll see how he is, but he seems good at the moment and it's a possibility he could go to Gowran.
"He's in the Ryanair, but I don't think he'll be going to Cheltenham. If he was to go over to England, the two-and-a-half-mile race in Liverpool (Melling Chase, Aintree) might be more likely, but we also have a few options for him at home."
