Northern Ireland's Stephanie Meadow is the clubhouse leader after the opening round of the Canadian Pacific Women's Open was suspended due to bad light.

The 24-year-old, ranked 419 in the world, struck seven birdies and a solitary bogey in her six-under-par 66 to top the pile of players who completed all 18 holes.

She was unlikely to have been at the summit had bad light not brought an early halt to proceedings, though, as South Korean Chella Choi leads the way on seven under with four holes of her round to play.

Frenchwoman Karine Icher is side by side with Meadow on six under, also with four holes to play.

World number one Lydia Ko is in the clubhouse on five under and in a good position to make a charge while number two Ariua Jutanugarn is even better placed, on the same score but with her round incomplete.

Catriona Matthew is the next best placed Brit, on three under, while fellow Team GB Olympian Charley Hull was on one under when her round was cut short by the darkness.
