Zayed walks Red carpet after Hollywood hat-trick in Tehran
Eamon Zayed has had a Hollywood start to his career in Iran.
The former Derry City and Bray Wanderers striker is still in dreamland after scoring a stunning six-minute hat-trick to give his new club Persepolis the bragging rights over bitter city rivals Esteghlal Tehran on Thursday night.
In front of 90,000 fans, the 'Reds' were trailing 2-0 and were reduced to 10 men before Zayed was sprung from the bench to turn the tie on its head in only his second appearance since moving to the Iranian capital.
Zayed showed his Libyan team-mates exactly what they were missing after being left out of their Africa Cup of Nations squad, when he pulled a goal back with a clinical finish seven minutes from time. Within seconds of the restart they were level through a Zayed header, before he polished off his hat-trick with a beautiful turn and finish to send the Reds fans wild.
Hollywood, or Tehran, it's all a long way from the Brandywell.
