Phil Jones’ World Cup sticker has raised eyebrows and a few smiles, but the England defender thinks his photo is a “belter”.

Nothing brings children and adults together quite like the Panini sticker albums – a hallmark of major tournament football.

Then there is the small matter of players getting into the album, with Jones failing to make the cut for the World Cup 2014 edition.

The Manchester United defender made the England squad this time – but the photo has caused some amusement online.

Jones managed to make it to Russia without seeing his sticker, but it is fair to say the defender approves.

“That’s a belter that, isn’t it?” he said excitedly. “It looks good that.”

Put to Jones that his other half may have sent it in, he said: “She definitely thinks I look like that.

“I’m surprised she’s not mentioned that. She’d usually have bantered me about that by now.”
