Fabian Delph says the Football Association has comprehensively combated the bright nights at England’s hotel, with their eye for detail meaning this corner of Russia is like a slice of Yorkshire.

Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions are based on the Gulf of Finland in the quiet resort town of Repino, which lies 29 miles north-west of St Petersburg.

Talk of players becoming bored in the remote area have been allayed by players, but the lack of darkness has reportedly becoming an issue to some squad members.

With the sun setting just before midnight and rising at around 3.30am, blackout blinds have been put in the rooms of England’s players and staff at the forRestMix Club.

Others may be struggling but England midfield Delph is dealing with the constant daylight just fine, with the Yorkshireman feeling right at home in Repino.

“We’re sleeping fine, we’ve got a great team here,” the Manchester City title winner said.

“We’ve got our own mattresses and our own pillows. We got used to them at St George’s Park. It’s a home from home

“When we arrived in the hotel there were a lot of homely things. We brought home comforts – pictures of our families, I had my Yorkshire Tea bags. It’s just like being in Yorkshire, really!

“The curtains are not bad, we’re not getting much light in my bedroom.”
