EVERTON are set to make a bid of £4m to sign Aiden McGeady from Spartak Moscow. New Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is a fan of the 27-year-old and tried to sign him for Wigan last season.

Sunderland and Fulham are also interested in McGeady, who has spent the last three years in Russia following a £9.5m move from Celtic.

Hull City may make a move for Ireland goalkeeper David Forde if they fail to sign number one target Kasper Schmeichel from Leicester City. Hull manager Steve Bruce has made signing a new goalkeeper one of his priorities as he prepares for the club's return to the top-flight and was hugely impressed by Forde's form for both Millwall and Ireland last season.

Rumour Mill

Liverpool expect to have wrapped up a deal within 48 hours to sign the 20-year-old Spanish winger Luis Alberto from Seville for around £6m.

Brendan Rodgers is confident a deal will be done and that the player (above) will be in Britain by the end of the week.

The Reds also hope to have concluded the signings of Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas this week and are also interested in Sporting Lisbon central defender Tiago Ilori. Signing the Armenia national team captain, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, will be a longer game, as his club, Shakhtar Donetsk, do not need to sell.

Celtic are moving closer to agreeing a deal to sign Holland U-21 defender Virgil van Dijk. Neil Lennon is also reported to be interested in centre-back Cedric Mongongu, who plays for French Ligue 1 club Evian. The 23-year-old former Monaco defender has 20 caps for the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Fernando Torres has reiterated his commitment to Chelsea and is hoping he has a role to play under new Blues coach Jose Mourinho.

Cesc Fabregas insists he has not received any offersthat would tempt him away from Barcelona. The former Arsenal player has been linked with Manchester United and a return to the Gunners.

Edinson Cavani has hinted he would prefer to join Real Madrid over Man City or Chelsea, describing them as a "beautiful team" following speculation linking him with the club.

The two Premier League clubs are also reported to be keen on securing the Uruguayan's services to help improve their squads ahead of the new season.

Cavani (above) said: "Real Madrid are a beautiful team, every player dreams of playing there when he is a child. "

Done Deals

Aston Villa have completed the signing of striker Nicklas Helenius from Aalborg. The 22-year-old 6ft 5in frontman was the second-highest scorer in the Danish League last season with 16.

Jermaine Pennant has signed a new one-year deal with Stoke. The 30-year-old has been handed the chance of a fresh start at the Britannia Stadium after impressing new manager Mark Hughes.
