Watford draw not enough to satisfy Bournemouth scorer Benik Afobe

Benik Afobe climbed off the bench to snatch a point for Bournemouth but felt they should have had all three.

The striker grabbed an 82nd-minute equaliser as the Cherries twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with Watford.

He was given a helping hand by Hornets defender Christian Kabasele, who dropped to the ground with apparent cramp to leave a gaping hole in Watford's defence as Bournemouth came forward.

Andrew Surman found the gap and Afobe raced onto his pass before firing across Heurelho Gomes and into the net.

"I saw Surman get the ball and he looked for me, looking for the run and it was quite straightforward," he said.

"When I was through on goal I focused on being composed and finding the bottom corner, and once it hit the back of the net it was a good feeling.

"At the time we thought we could go on and get the winner, if there were 10 or 15 minutes more we probably could have. We're disappointed with a draw to be honest."

Watford went ahead when Jose Holebas' 24th-minute corner was inadvertently flicked on by Steve Cook at the near post to Miguel Britos, who nodded the ball back across goal for Kabasele to head home.

Bournemouth levelled three minutes after half-time when Adam Smith burst into the area before squaring the ball for Joshua King, who had a tap-in for his first home goal of the season.

Troy Deeney headed Watford back in front from another corner but Afobe ensured the visitors' winless streak was extended to seven matches.

Hornets boss Walter Mazzarri insists there are extenuating circumstances for their poor run.

"We lose some points through mistakes where we pay the highest price," he said.

"Also we keep getting injuries that don't allow us to have a full squad, and we're unlucky as well because if you saw the game against Middlesbrough we hit the post. We deserved to win but the ball didn't want to go in.

"It's all of these things together that brings us here."
