Some Ajax fans vented their fury after their side's 2-0 Europa League final defeat to Manchester United by ripping up seats at the Friends Arena in Stockholm and firing them at their dejected players.

The young Ajax side, who had an average age of around 22, failed to land a blow despite dominating possession as they were physically and tactically overwhelmed by Jose Mourinho's men.

After finishing as runners-up in the Dutch Eredivisie behind bitter rivals Feyenoord, for a segment of Ajax fans, finishing second in the Europa League was the final straw and they made their feelings known as their dejected players applauded them for their support during the difficult encounter.

Those fans should take a leaf from their players' book and learn to be gracious in defeat.
