A referee was on the receiving end of a vicious flying kick during an Argentine soccer game, with the fall-out from the shocking incident now spreading around the world on social media.

Official Claudio Landril was refereeing a local league match between La Tablada Vs. 135 Viviendas when he came under fire, with one player launching into an attack that left the official with a bruised eye.

His flying kick was delivered with the kind of accuracy you may expect from Conor McGregor, with video this incident going viral on Twitter.

Landril later posted a picture of his injuries, as he confirmed he was on the receiving end of a succession of punches and a kick from the players he clearly failed to control.
