It has been rumoured on occasion over the last few years but this afternoon Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti poured a bucket of cold water on the prospect of Ireland star Seamus Coleman joining the German giants.
The Everton defender has long been linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with Man United often talked about as a potential landing spot. The Bavarian club has been mooted as another possible destination, with one journalist asking Ancelotti about the possibility at today's press conference ahead of tomorrow's Champions League tie with Arsenal.
The question was prefaced with a mention of Philipp Lahm's impending retirement at the end of the season, with Ancelotti getting asked whether Coleman was being considered as a possible replacement.
"No," was Ancelotti's succinct reply, with the media laughing at the Italian manager's emphatic response.
It remains to be seen if Coleman can secure a move to a big club, but Bayern Munich looks to be out of the running for the time being.
