Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling is ready to step down from his position as honorary president at Hartlepool United FC, after an extravagant on-air rant saw him urging the club's manager Dave Jones to quit.

Stelling has long been one of the more passionate supporters of League Two side Hartlepool and after their home defeat against Barnet on Saturday, which moved them a step closer to relegation from the Football League, he poured his heart out as only a true fan can do.

Former Southampton, wolves and Cardiff manager Jones has struggled to make an impact at Hartlepool, inspiring Stelling to launch an feisty call for his departure on his Soccer Saturday show.

"Dave Jones, for the good of the club just go now. You've got 13 points from 51. This is not your level of football," stated an irate Stelling.

"If he won't walk, sack him. If it means me resigning as president I do so happily. Do it now. Do it today."
