Aiden McGeady has been a revelation for Preston North End this season with a string of consistent performances and quality goals.

The Irish winger has endured some low points in his club career in the past few seasons but today his sublime form continued with a thunderous strike - his eighth of the season - to give Preston a 23rd-minute lead away to Huddersfield Town.

McGeady picked the ball up on the right, 35 yards from goal, dropped his shoulder to breeze past his marker and smash an unstoppable effort into the top right-hand corner of the net.

Huddersfield bounced back to take the lead with goals from Elias Kachunga and Jack Payne before Jordan Hugill levelled matters in the 79th minute. There was late heartache for Preston, however, when Collin Quaner poked home after Mooy's penalty was saved.

Greg Cunningham started the match at left full for Preston while Daryl Horgan was introduced as a 74th minute substitute while Alan Browne was also on the bench.

Needless to say, Twitter was awash with praise for the Irish winger.
