WATCH - Eamon Dunphy apologises for joke he made during half-time analysis of Celtic-Barcelona Newsdesk Newsdesk

Former Republic of Ireland international Eamon Dunphy has apologised for a joke he cracked during RTE's coverage of Celtic's clash with Barcelona last night.

While analysing a chance in the first half of the game which saw Craig Gordon pull off a world class save to deny Barcelona striker Luiz Suares, Dunphy told fellow panellist Liam Brady: "It was an amazing save. Is that Suarez? You would bet your house on it (Suarez scoring) Liam.... well, one of them anyway."

After the laughter had quietened, Dunphy realised that his comments might be viewed negatively given the homelessness crisis in Ireland at the moment.

"That's a rather bad joke actually, given the circumstances in this country. Apologies to everybody."
