Joe Garner’s strike for Preston North End is arguably the finest goal ever scored in the play-offs.

This stage of the season is fraught with tension with final promotion spots up for grabs, but Garner made little of the pressure cooker environment to score a screamer in the 1-1 draw in the League One semi-final first-leg.

His goal came out of the blue, just four minutes after the break, as he took a long ball down on his chest, then guided it away from a defender with his boost before complete his three-part manoeuvre with a stunning 25-yard volley which gave Millers keeper Adam Collin no chance.

The tie remains perfectly poised for the return leg and Rotherham will be sure to keep closer tabs on Garner after his wonder strike.
