Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has served up a brilliant anti-racism message in his latest Instagram post that has already become a viral hit on social media.
The Juventus star has developed a positive reputation for posting brilliantly inventive messages and his latest may be the best yet, as he dressed up as a panda to deliver an anti-racism message.
Evra was involved in an infamous racist spat with Luis Suarez during his time at United, with the striker who was playing for Liverpool at the time subsequently handed an eight-game ban for his role in an incident that has been marked down as one of the ugliest in Premier League history.
Yet Evra took to social media last week to congratulate Suarez as he collected a golden boot for finishing as the top scorer in European football last season, in a message that won him widespread acclaim.
Now a smiling Evra has returned to Instagram dressed as a panda and delivering this message alongside the video:
“Be like my panda!!! I m black ,white, asian and chubby !! SAY NO TO RACISM !!! Who wants to be a panda ??? I love this game hahahahahahahahah ps after this video you can t be racist.”
The video ends with Evra removing his panda head to offer up his smiling message and is hard not to smile when you look at this video:
Before anyone pins the blame on a stadium, it might be remembered that West Ham fans pelted the Manchester United team bus with bottles and coins only in May - at Upton Park, the shrine the Hammers occupied before the big move to Stratford offered "a real opportunity to change the brand values of the club", in the words of vice-chairman Karren Brady.
