Unhappy Gotze could spark Premier League scramble
Not even a season into his Bayern career, Mario Gotze has voiced his unhappiness in Munich after an under-whelming season for the German champions.
The €37m signing from Borussia Dortmund amid huge fanfare last summer, but the move to their biggest rivals has not turned out as expected.
The 21 year-old has appeared 38 times for Pep Guardiola’s side over the course of the campaign, but many of these have come off the bench as he has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular. His comments could fuel speculation over a move to the Premier League this summer, with Old Trafford a potential destination.
“Of course I am not happy with my current situation. But I will continue to give my all. I hope that I will regain the coach's confidence and feature from the start again,” Gotze told Bild magazine.
The German tabloid has alleged that Guardiola and Gotze have a difficult relationship and has made just over a dozen Bundesliga starts this season, scoring eight and assisting a further eight.
United would be a likely destination, who are also in the hunt for colleague Toni Kroos, while Manchester City were though to have considered a bid for the German play-maker last season before he opted to join Bayern.
