UEFA bury time capsule
UEFA yesterday buried a capsule containing soccer memorabilia, a mobile telephone and a CD at its Nyon base, with instructions for it to be opened in 50 years time.
A football, a pair of goalkeepers gloves, boots, a match programme and a CD by singer Nelly Furtado were among the items in the capsule, which was buried as part of UEFA's Golden Jubilee being celebrated this year.
Other items included were a UEFA staff list and an employee's contract, ties and T-shirts, a press review from 1954, the year the organisation was born, as well as local newspapers and a letter from chief executive Lars-Christer Olsson. "It's a fascinating prospect what people will think in 50 years time," said Olsson.
