U-15 Girls Schools side began the defence of their title with a win over Wales

Wales 1
Ireland 3

The Republic of Ireland's U-15 Girls Schools side began the defence of their title with a win over Wales in Cardiff yesterday.

Amber Barrett's second-half double gave Jason Carey's side a well-deserved opening-day victory.

The visitors opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Amy O'Connor set up Ciara Rossiter to score.

Ireland lost their lead on 41 minutes, but then Barrett struck twice, first latching onto a Nadine Crawford free, then a fine solo effort.
