Trapattoni names injured Shane Long in squad for Euro play-offs
GIOVANNI Trapattoni has named injured Shane Long in his Republic of Ireland squad to play Estonia in next months’ vital play-offs.
West Bromich Albtion ruled Long out for up to two months after he was injured by Alan Hutton's yellow card tackle during the first half of their 2-1 Premier League win against Aston Villa.
But Long believes he has a chance of proving his fitness.
Meanwhile, Robbie Keane – who has also been out injured - is also expected to be fit.
Ireland travel to Talinn for the first leg on November 11 and play the second leg at the Aviva Stadium on the 15th.
Said Trapattoni: "There is no room for complacency as we prepare for our two games next month.
‘’ We will remember that Estonia have as much right to be in the play-off as ourselves.
"They have had some very good results in their group beating Serbia and Slovenia.
‘’They also caused Italy a lot of problems. These games will be a huge challenge for us, and we must maintain the correct mentality from start to finish."
Fellow striker Kevin Doyle is out of the first leg due to suspension.
