Transfer round-up: Manchester United to offer Antoine Griezmann huge money to secure deal
Silly season is upon us. So who will go where? Here is a round-up of what the papers are saying as the transfer window
Antoine Griezmann has been offered a staggering £220,000-a-week deal to join Man Utd this summer, claims The Sun.
The paper says it is the same 'Galactico contract' as Paul Pogba and apparently Old Trafford executives discussed personal terms with the Atletico Madrid star's representatives this week.
However, United have yet to agree a fee for the Frenchman, with Atletico demanding £86 million.
The Sun, though, says United are still confident of reaching an agreement and could even offer players, such as Memphis Depay, as makeweights.
Sticking with The Sun and we are also informed talks to sign Benfica defender Victor Lindelof have stalled and Jose Mourinho has instead offered £32.5 million for Roma's Greek defender Kostas Manolas.
It seems that last May, when Mourinho started looking at which players he would like to bring to Old Trafford, he paid special attention to 25-year-old Manolas and team-mate Alessandro Florenzi.
Reports in Italy claim 35-year-old Juventus left-back Patrice Evra has held talks with West Ham and his former club Man United over a potential January move.
The idea of Evra returning to Old Trafford was first sparked this week when Rio Ferdinand sent a message to the former France international asking if the rumours were true.
And now Calciomercato is claiming that now only is it true but that United will face competition from the Hammers.
With James Rodriguez's Real Madrid future in the balance, Italian journalist Mina Rzouki believes United could be one of a number of possible destinations for the 25-year-old Colombian.
Rzouki, speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, suggests United, Inter Milan and Juventus are in a three-way battle for the Colombian.
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu admits he would struggle to turn down the opportunity to join Manchester United in the transfer window.
The 22-year-old Turkey international has also been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea as a replacement for Oscar.
Calhanoglu told Lig TV: "Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs it would be different to turn them down but I have not said anything about any transfers or anything of the sort."
