Manchester United transfer news: Sergio Ramos tells Real Madrid he is quitting the club
Fresh reports in Spain this morning suggest Sergio Ramos is determined to leave Real Madrid.
A Spanish news report this morning claims his desire for a move is "not about the money". The report goes on to state that the gulf between the club and the player is too big to repair.
The Spanish international asked the Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, to allow him to leave the club earlier this week, but there was still conjecture on whether it was a play for a new contract.
However an article in Spanish newspaper Marca states Sergio Ramos is apparently determined to leave the club, with the differences between himself and the Real hierarchy said to be irrevocable.
The ongoing transger saga is now understood to 'not be a matter of negotiation', with Ramos intent on his departure.
The 29 year-old's relationship with the Los Blancos leadership has seemingly deteriorated beyond repair after the club refused to offer him an improved contract.
Manchester United have already made two bids for the Spanish defender rejected - one of £32.5 million and a second of £42.5 million.
Manchester United are a understood to be the only potential destination for Ramos after Florentino Perez insisted he would only allow Ramos to leave for the Premier League Club.
A poll in a Spanish daily newspaper has today revealed that over half of Real Madrid fans want the defender to be sold.
When asked whether it was the right time for Ramos to leave the Bernabeu, 55% of the fans who voted thought that it was.
