Man United on red alert as Borussia Dortmund star stalls on new deal
Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels is stalling on a new contract, putting long-time admirers Manchester United back on the radar.
United have been linked with signing the centre-back more or less since Louis van Gaal took over, and Hummels, whose current deal expires in 2017 says he wants to wait and assess his options before signing a new contract.
The 27-year-old said: "There have not been any talks in any direction. Everything's still very quiet. I am relaxed about this issue because I don't see that I am pushed for time."
The Express reports that United are expected to renew their interest in the German defender this month.
Elsewhere, Manchester United have reoprtedly been given the green light to sign Edinson Cavani in the summer transfer window.
According to L'Equipe, via Gazzetta dello Sport, Cavani has told PSG it's 'either me or Ibrahimovic' for the central striker role and is now ready to leave in June, with Old Trafford his preferred destination.
It's understood Arsenal and Liverpool are also on the trail of the 28-year-old.
United are set to rival Arsenal for the signature of Dinamo Zagreb's Marcelo Brozovic.
Brozovic, 23, is currently on loan at Inter Milan and the midfielder has been scouted by United for some time, according to talkSPORT.
Brozovic agreed a one-and-a-half-year loan deal with the Italian giants, but the midfielder's agent has confirmed a move away is still possible.
"Premier League clubs know him very well, they believe he can improve a lot in the next few years," Miroslav Bicanic told Calciomercato.
