Louis van Gaal will be given another £150 million to spend at a Manchester United to reinforce his first-team squad.

According to The Mirror, Van Gaal is due to sit down with United chief executive Ed Woodward to discuss transfer plans today with the board happy to back the Dutchman's in the transfer market.

Top of the transfer hit-list is Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels. Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman is also on there, after the Italian club admitted they may listen to a "huge offer" for the Dutchman.

United also want a right-back, with Nathaniel Clyne of Southampton believed to be their preferred choice ahead of Everton's Seamus Coleman.

Hummels, meanwhile, is the most sought-after defender in Europe and it could take £40m-plus to land the centre-half.

The Mirror reports that United might have gone for Aston Villa's Ron Vlaar - out of contract at the end of the season - as a stop-gap, but his knee injury is a cause for concern.

The Daily Mail also claims that Van Gaal will focus on buying a central defender in the summer, with Hummels and Shalke's Benedikt Howedes on his radar. United are also keeping close tabs on Celtic's Virgil van Dijk.

Juventus and AS Roma want to rescue Radamel Falcao from his Old Trafford nightmare, according to The Daily Star.

United can make Falcao's move permanent for £43m and have promised to make a decision at the end of this season.

Real Sociedad boss David Moyes has compared Adnan Januzaj to Dutch legend Johan Cruyff, but insists he has no plans to sign the 20-year-old United winger on loan.

Januzaj is also a target for Paris Saint-Germain, Juve and Porto.

"I've read about it but I don't know where it has come from. It hasn't come from me," Moyes has told ESPN. "Along with Wayne Rooney, Adnan is the best young talent I've worked with as a manager.

"He's a wonderful player gifted with great balance and the ability to go past people with little ease. When I see his poise on the ball he has characteristics of Johan Cruyff."

United have recalled Reece James from his loan spell at Rotherham United amid interest from Premier League and Championship clubs.

The Mail reports that the 21-year-old's form has alerted other clubs who are looking to strengthen their defences in the January window.

The Metro, meanwhile, is reporting that United have made a £45m bid for Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller.

The German left the door open for a transfer this week, with reports suggesting an offer has gone in for his services.

Van Gaal is supposedly after another frontman this month and has already had an offer turned down for Palermo frontman Paulo Dybala, who is valued at £31m.

United are said to have opened talks with PSG over a deal to sign Brazilian defender Marquinhos.

Van Gaal could be willing to launch a big money move for the talented 20-year-old and, according to reports in France, the young centre-back is keen to pursue a move to England after falling behind David Luiz in the pecking order.

And finally, United are believed to have offered Real Madrid £117m for Gareth Bale as the Welshman weighs up whether or not to leave the La Liga giants.

The Metro reports that Bale has been targeted by United for a summer transfer, with Louis van Gaal looking to add a quality wide man.
