Liverpool transfer rumours: Rodgers closing in on Real Betis midfielder
Liverpool are keeping tabs on exciting Real Betis prospect Dani Ceballos, according to The Mail.
The Betis youngster is a creative midfielder and shone for Spain as they won the Under-19 European Championship this summer.
Betis are desperate to hold onto the 19-year-old, but he has just 12 months left on his contract and a buy-out clause of £8m.
Given his potential sell-on value, Ceballos could represent great value at that price, and Liverpool are one of a number of top European clubs monitoring developments closely.
Roma and Real Madrid are both aware of his situation, and could make a move before the end of the month.
The Liverpool link comes from Spanish newspaper Diario de Sevilla, which claims contact between the Anfield club has already been made.
The paper even suggests that the terms of the deal, including a £1.1m salary plus bonuses, has already been thrashed out.
Ceballos scored five goals in 33 matches last season as Betis won promotion back to La Liga.
Elsewhere, it is being reported that Liverpool have rejected two £7m bids for Mamadou Sakho.
Sky Sports claims that both Roma and Bayer Leverkusen have had bids rejected, and that the defender is seeking a move.
