Liverpool transfer news: Real Madrid winger to replace Raheem Sterling at Anfield
Conflicting reports over the weekend over quite how much Liverpool want Real Madrid's Denis Cheryshev to replace Raheem Sterling.
The People reports that Liverpool have made a bid of £22m for Cheryshev, who is entirely Russian, and plays predominantly on the left wing.
He spent last year on loan with Villarreal, and the year before that with Sevilla. Rafael Benítez doesn't want to keep him. He doesn't sound all that good if we're being completely honest.
Fortunately, Liverpool might not be quite as keen on Cheryshev as the People think.
Some other people, who work for the Liverpool Echo, say that there is "currently no interest in Liverpool bringing the player to Anfield", and that all roads still lead towards Christian Benteke as Liverpool's number one summer target.
Swap deals. You don't hear much about them these days. Conscious of this, Liverpool are trying to bring them back.
Mario Balotelli is being dangled in front of Fiorentina on season-long loan.
In return Liverpool will receive one Mario Gomez for one season, which is obviously an opportunity to listen to the Mario Gomez song:
In other Germans-to-Liverpool news, the ambitious-sounding pursuit of Marco Reus reported recently by this very same rumour round-up, is still alive.
The Metro says Liverpool are weighing up a £46m bid for Reus, who has recently signed a new contract at Borussia Dortmund.
Good luck with that, Liverpool.
