Liverpool have been handed a transfer boost after Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed Nabil Fekir will leave the French club this summer.

France midfielder Fekir was on the brink of a £53million move to Anfield last June and had even completed a medical with the Anfield giants, but the deal fell through after a complication with an old knee injury.

"Effectively, Nabil is outside [of the two departures expected], because we have an understanding that he can go," he Aulas after Lyon's 3-2 victory over Nimes on Friday.

"Thanks Nabil for bringing what he brought, we have an understanding to let him go."
