Ibrahimovic and Ronaldo on United radar as 'surprise' signing speculation intensifies
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that a "mystery" signing could be on the cards and Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Cristiano Ronaldo continue to be linked to Old Trafford.
Robin van Persie's departure has increased the need for another striker and last night Manchester Evening News reported that an incredible move for former star Ronaldo is being discussed at board level.
Speculation has intensified over the last few days over the Portuguese star's future and has been the main topic of conversation in La Liga.
A video has shown an unhappy Ronaldo appearing disgruntled with manager Rafa Benitez in pre-season training, while the agent of Iker Casillas has questioned the player's media arrangements and believes the 30-year-old is planning to leave the club.
Although United have already added Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, to their squad in the close season, M.E.N. says discussions have already taken place to bring the Madrid star back to the Premier League in what would be a club record deal.
If that fails to materialise, the Red Devils could turn attentions to another marquee forward.
Swedish star Ibrahimovic could finally make a move to the Premier League, with reports in France suggesting his time with PSG is about to come to an end.
Currently in the US on pre-season, he admitted that he would like to play in America.
"I think (playing in MLS) would be an amazing experience," the striker said.
However, the Metro reports that Van Gaal is considering a deal to bring the Swede to Old Trafford.
Galatasaray are also chasing the outspoken striker, with question marks whether United would match Ibrahimovic's €10m salary demands.
