Hull deny any deal for Shane Long as move looks unlikely
Hull City this morning denied they had reached an agreement with West Brom over the sale of Irish international Shane Long.
The Baggies striker looked close to a move to the KC Stadium in the last transfer window in a £5 million move, but the deal fell through at the last minute.
However it was thought the club were keen to look to entice the Irish striker again with speculation last night suggesting the Tipp native was set to discuss personal terms with the club today.
This morning however the club took to Twitter to deny any such agreement had been reached with West Brom and would not be speaking to the player.
“Contrary to reports in the media this morning, we have not reached any agreement with @WBAFCofficial over the transfer of Shane Long... and as such will not be conducting a medical with the player today,” the club tweeted.
Last night Long’s wife Kayleah tweeted that she had hoped to stay in the Midlands when asked by a friend if her other half would be leaving in the transfer window.
“Not going anywhere!Told Shane happyhere &with baby on way it not worth the stress when still in contract! He agreed #happydays,” she tweeted.
Gedo, Nick Proschwitz and Aaron Mclean are the three players who are said to be heading for the exit door at the KC Stadium as Steve Bruce looks to bolster his Hull attack, with Steven Fletcher and Demba Ba mooted as other transfer targets.
