Chelsea's £46m Koke bid turned down by Atletico
Chelsea are set to be disappointed in their chase for Atletico Madrid's Koke.
Having already lost Arda Turan to the pit that is Barcelona's current squad registration situation, Diego Simeone doesn't want another midfielder to leave, lest it hinder his Sisyphean task of trying to win the title back from Barcelona.
Accordingly, Marca are reporting that Atletico have turned down Jose Mourinho's bid.
With Diego Costa, Radamel Falcao, and Thibaut Courtois already in his team, Mourinho's bid for Koke edges him closer to achieving his ultimate goal - recreating Simeone's side, just in England. He'll have to sign back Filipe Luis if he wants to succeed.
Mourinho has been preaching the need to keep his side stable this season, but at the same time, he saw Chelsea draw 2-2 with Swansea on Saturday.
A player who is thought to be on his way to Chelsea imminently is Augsburg's Baba Rahman, according to Bild.
The left-back, who will have seen Branislav Ivanovic's struggles against Swansea yesterday and jumped up and down with joy, played in the DFB Cup yesterday, completing 120 minutes.
While he was scared an injury would scupper a move to Stamford Bridge, he came through unscathed, even managing a lap of honour around the pitch.
Meanwhile, John Stones, of the John Stones Paint Trophy, will only be allowed to join Chelsea if they pay Everton £34 million.
Everton have already turned down two bids from Chelsea, but Sunday Mirror Sport think they will concede defeat if a bid meets his valuation.
Stones played as Everton drew 2-2 with Premier League new boys Watford yesterday.
