Chelsea miss out on Fredy Guarin with Inter Milan confirming midfielder is no longer for sale
Chelsea have missed out on signing Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin this month after the Italian club confirmed the player is no longer for sale.
Inter had been prepared to let the Colombian leave and confirmed they had been in touch with various clubs about a potential deal.
But, Piero Ausilio, Inter's sporting director, now says Guarin will remain at the San Siro with Chelsea believed not to be willing to pay the £15 million asking price.
Ausilio said: "Guarin is an Inter player and we are happy to keep him.
"Denying the contacts with Chelsea would be denying the evidence. It is a source of pride to talk with them about one of our players, but everything stopped there.
We are happy Guarin could stay with us for a long time. We don't have the intention to sell him. He's an important player."
The 27-year-old spent three-and-a-half years at Porto before making the move to Italy in a £10 million deal in 2012.
