Chelsea launch eleventh hour bid to beat Manchester United to Monaco right back Fabinho
According to L’Equipe, Chelsea have entered the race to sign Brazilian right back Fabinho.
Manchester United had been the frontrunners to secure his signature for most of the summer, but it emerged last night that Chelsea are ready to make a £25m bid for the defender.
Monaco, however, are confident in keeping the man labelled as 'the next Dani Alves' as they will be able to offer Fabinho Champions League football next season - something that both United and Chelsea cannot.
According to Marca, Chelsea are close to completing the signing of Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina.
Antonio Conte will reportedly offer €25m (£21.3m) in a bid to secure the defender's signature.
The 25-year-old already has experience of the Premier League after making 35 appearances for Bolton in a three-year spell between 2010 and 2013.
The Spaniard left Bolton in 2013 to join Fiorentina but was back in England again just a year later when Sunderland took him on loan under the management of Gus Poyet.
