Arsenal transfer rumours: D-day in chase for striker Gonzalo Higuain
Italian media today are reporting that Napoli and Juventus are meeting today to discuss if a deal can be done for Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain.
Both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport say that officials from both Serie A clubs will meet today and the future of the striker is top of the agenda.
According to reports all week in Italy, Juventus want to make a bid for the Argentinian but the £79m release clause is a struggle for them.
There has been talk of the Italian champions selling some players to raise the funds, and if Paul Pogba does move on they will certainly have the cash, but today's meeting may see a different deal hammered out or a realisation that the player will not be Turin bound.
Arsenal have been long linked with the striker and a suggestion that a bid involving Olivier Giroud plus cash had been offered for Higuain was made last week.

That remains unconfirmed but for now, it seems Juventus have the best shot at getting the ace marksman, who is said to be ready to leave Naples if the right offer is made.
If they fail, then Arsenal fans will expect their club to make a move for the player, even if the fee would be almost double Arsenal's record transfer fee, which was €47m for Mesut Ozil.
