Arsenal and Man United on red alert as Karim Benzema posts cryptic message on Instagram
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has posted an Instagram message suggesting he is about to start a new chapter in his career - sparking rumours that he may be about to sign for Arsenal or Manchester United.
While his Real Madrid team-mates were posting images of their pre-season trip to China, Benzema offered up this message to his supporters:
The translation of the message is 'Let us leave the past in the past', fuelling rumours that the hit-man has his sights set on a transfer to England.
Benzema has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger refusing to be drawn on whether he was interested in signing the French striker this summer.
There are also suggestions that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has made a move to sign Benzema, with the Old Trafford boss suggesting he might sign a 'surprise' player in this transfer window.
With Real Madrid eager to sign United keeper David De Gea, there will be inevitable suggestions that Benzema could be part of a deal that sees the Spanish keeper move to the Spanish capital in the coming days.
The claim from Benzema's agent last week that he was '1000 per-cent' certain to remain at Real Madrid in this transfer window does not look quite so secure right now.
Sky Sports reports that the player remains with the squad and the picture in question was taken during his holidays.
