Arsenal aim to hijack Real Madrid's bid for £30million Schalke striker
The Spanish daily newspaper Marca is claiming that Arsenal are one of the challengers to Real Madrid in their bid to sign Leroy Sane from Schalke.
The German international is one of the most in-demand players of the transfer window, having also been linked with Liverpool, but would not come cheap. His release clause in his current contract - which expires in 2019 - is set at around £30million, but nobody would argue with the fact that he is worth the cash.
The Daily Express claims that Barcelona "updated their expanding dossier" on Aaron Ramsey during Arsenal's 3-3 draw with Liverpool and want to sign the Welsh midfielder in the summer.
Apparently the Catalan giants made preliminary enquiries last summer but were told where to go by Arsene Wenger's transfer people. That initial dismissal hasn't put them off their target and they will renew their interest at the season's close.
That same paper says "sources close to Ramsey" have revealed that he would be open to a move to Barcelona, presumably because it's Barcelona, and that Luis Enrique is willing to spend £50-60million on the midfielder.
Ramsey won't consider his future until after Euro 2016, which is traditionally the point at which clubs around Europe do mad business with each other. Andres Iniesta will be 32 next season and Barcelona are said to consider Ramsey an able successor to one of their all time great players.
