€50m La Liga defender says he wants out with Man United poised to swoop
Manchester United target Nicolas Otamendi has reportedly told Valencia he wants out, setting a July 27 deadline for his future to be finalised.
The Red Devils have shown interest in the Argentine defender valued at €50m by the La Liga club, and his absence at the club's kit launch on Thursday heightened speculation that the coveted defender has played his final game for the club.
Spanish press says that his representatives have told the club he wants to leave this summer, with Old Trafford his preferred destination.
The 27-year-old was granted an extended break due to his Copa America participation and is due back at the Mestalla on Monday, but it is believed Louis van Gaal will step up his interest, especially with Jonny Evans expected to leave United before the season gets underway.
Van Gaal admitted that the summer spending may not be over and a central defender is on his priority list as the United look to improve on last season's fourth-place finish.

Otamendi has been consistently linked with a move to United but Valencia have remained steadfast that they will only sell if a club meets his €50million (£35m) release clause.
