£45m Karim Benzema move authorised by Arsenal board

It's a new day, and Karim Benzema is still apparently on his way to Arsenal.

He's taken the longest plane ride of all time, crossed the sea and now finds himself in footballing purgatory, waiting for his move to be given the green light.

Which it has. Real Madrid are still saying they don't want to sell him, but the Daily Mail are reporting that Arsene Wenger has been told he can make a £45 million bid for Benzema.

Having been quoted that exact amount for the French striker in the last few days, Wenger will be happy to hear that.

Benzema will also become the highest paid player at the Emirates Stadium, earning more than Mezut Ozil's current £150,000-per-week.

Wenger views Benzema as the missing piece from his Premier League champions jigsaw, available now at all good financial fair play compliant toy stores.

Does Benzema even want to join Arsenal?

Well, apparently, despite Real turning down a bid for the striker earlier this summer, Wenger believes nothing appeals to Benzema more than a move to Arsenal.

Elsewhere in the news, Forza Italian Football are suggesting that Palermo are out of the race to sign Joel Campbell.

Summer 2014 favourite Campbell was on loan at Villareal for the last six months of last season, having failed to make any sort of impact for Arsenal after being given the opportunity to do so last time around.

He's now surplus to requirements, having spent the last few years travelling around Europe on loan like an extended gap year.

Palermo aren't keen to match Arsenal's valuation of Campbell, which is €10 million. Admittedly, he scored zero goals in 16 games for Villareal, but why should that stop Palermo spending millions of pounds on him to replace their top scorer Paulo Dybala? Madness.
