Benfica winger Nicolás Gaitán will play his final game for the club before completing a €30m move to Manchester United next week, according to The Metro.
The paper reports that a 'verbal agreement' with Benfica over the Argentinian, who joined the club for €8.4m in 2010, ironically just after fellow countryman Angel Di Maria had left the club.
Gaitán has been linked with a number of clubs during the summer, with manager Louis van Gaal keen on bolstering his options following Di Maria's departure and is a more likely transfer than Real Madrid's Garth Bale. It is believed that Manchester is Gaitan's preferred destination.
While goalkeeper David De Gea has been linked with a move to Real Madrid all summer, United may look to the Los Bloncos for a replacement.
The Daily Star believes it is a goalkeeper currently at the Bernabeu, Keylor Navas, that is on United's radar.
With Iker Casillas having moved to Porto, Navas looks set to start this season as Los Blancos’ number one keeper in the absence of any deal for De Gea.
Navas was backup to Casillas last term and only played in six La Liga matches for his new side, keeping three clean sheets.
It's all about Louis van Gaal. My gut instinct tells me that Jose Mourinho and Chelsea will successfully defend their Premier League title but I'm certain that the big story line for the season will be the Dutchman.
It says everything about the success he has enjoyed during five years at Manchester City that David Silva approaches the season harbouring the hopes and ambitions that were once reserved for the star performers on the other side of town.
