Torres brace helps Atleti ease through
Fernando Torres scored twice as Europa League favourites Atletico Madrid hammered Lokomotiv Moscow 5-1 in Russia to advance to the quarter-final stage.
Atleti already held a 3-0 advantage from the first leg and Angel Correa's rifled finish in the 16th minute gave them an early away goal too.
The hosts swiftly struck back through Maciej Rybus's brilliant effort from range but Diego Simeone's side would score four times after the break to progress 8-1 on aggregate.
Saul Niguez restored their lead on the night less than two minutes into the second half, with ex-Liverpool and Chelsea striker Torres adding two further goals, the first a penalty, before substitute Antoine Griezmann deliciously lifted a fifth into the far corner.
Elsewhere, Lazio were victorious 2-0 in Ukraine - with goals from Lucas Leiva and Stefan de Vrij - to knock out Dynamo Kiev 4-2 on aggregate.
Borussia Dortmund and Lyon also surprisingly exited the competition. The German side went down 2-1 on aggregate after a 0-0 draw at Salzburg, while CKSA dumped out Lyon on away goals in France, a 3-2 victory on the night securing a 3-3 aggregate scoreline.
