Top award for McCarthy as Everton eye up McGeady
JAMES McCARTHY has been rewarded for his consistent start to life at Everton by picking up their Player of the Month award for November, a huge compliment to the Irish international given the club's outstanding form.
The Glaswegian has seamlessly adapted to the fresh challenge, slotting in beside Gareth Barry.
McCarthy is still looking for his first goal but has impressed with his comfort in possession and tactical awareness.
"I really appreciate everyone that's voted for me and hopefully we can continue this good run we're on and keep up with the top four," he said. "We're getting results and we're doing well as a team. The boys have helped me settle in so quick and there's such a great team spirit, a great bunch of boys."
The 23-year-old admits the profile of being involved with a club like Everton is different to anything he's experienced before, and suggested that Roberto Martinez could add to the squad in January. His Irish colleague Aiden McGeady is a target.
"I came through at Hamilton and went to Wigan then, but the fans here are unbelievable. The numbers that come and watch each week is brilliant, and then there's the people you meet on the street and at the training ground. I'm really enjoying life here and long may it continue.
"We've a good unit as a team and a squad and, you never know, January is coming up and the gaffer might bring in another couple but at this moment in time we're looking strong."
